At our monthly meeting last week, three students from Rye High School each thanked our Post for sponsoring them to NY Boys State 2025. The boys were Michael Talbott, Brett Redfearn, and Aiden Harvey.
Commander Fred de Barros presented a certificate of citizenship to each boy. Then each boy talked a little about how positive the experience was and how they would use the experience as they applied to college or military academy and later life. Each thanked the Post.
This is the largest number of boys the post has sponsored to NY Boys State in many years. We believe this is because of the good “word of mouth” about the experience and support from the RHS guidance department.
More About Boys State
American Legion Boys’ State is a week-long program that immerses high school youth in citizenship and leadership training. They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in New York State and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government. They also participate in physical fitness, teamwork and other activities, under the guidance of American Legion counselors and U.S. Marines
