Post Donates $2000 to Rye Recreation

Rye American Legion Post 128 Finance Officer / Adjutant Tim Moynihan recently presented a check for $2,000 for recreation league basketball uniforms to Sally Rogol, Superintendent of Rye Recreation.  Ms. Rogol says, “Rye Recreation is thankful for the continuing support of Rye American Legion Post 128.  Contributions such as this enhance our ability to supplement the cost of reversible jerseys for more than 150 boys and girls in our basketball programs.”

Rye Post Commander de Barros says,” Donations to our Rye community align to the foundational pillars of the American Legion. We are a very fortunate Post to be able to support our community and fellow veterans alike.”

Nearly all these funds were generated through Rye Post 128 Legionnaire Terry McCartney’s Memorial Day golf fund raiser.   Terry says,” I organize a golf fundraiser each year on Memorial Day at Rye Golf Club.  This past Memorial Day we had over 70 players and 60 sponsors who participated in the tournament which generated $12,070.  We are proud the Post is using the funds for veterans and the Rye community.”
