We’d like to thank fellow Rye Post 128 Legionnaire Terry McCartney, players and sponsors for their donation to the Post as a result of the 2023 Memorial Day Hundy Golf Tournament at Rye Golf Club. Terry organized the event which included over 108 players and 70+ sponsors who participated in the tournament which generated a $20,450 contribution to the Post this week.
As in previous years, the funds will be used for our community, such as high-school academic scholarships, scholarships to Rye Recreation camps, and Rye Recreation basketball uniforms. Additionally, funds will go to veteran’s causes at Montrose VA Hospital.
Terry said it best in his thank you note to the participants, ” Once again, thank you all so much for your generosity. It is heart-warming to me, the other veterans in attendance and the members of Post 128 to see everyone chip in to make this event so successful. Communities are defined by the willingness of people to give that little something extra, whether it’s time or a few dollars, so the Memorial Day activities and the Hundy show the commitment of our small group to making a big difference in our community. Well done.”
